The 70th edition of the BFI London Film Festival finally has a long list of movies attached, with the newest releases from such esteemed filmmakers as Danny Boyle, Luca Guadagnino, Brad Bird, Martin McDonagh and many more all set to find a home in London this autumn.

All in all, the festival is set to host 251 titles, including features, shorts, series and immersive works from 88 countries. With 33 of these marking the first time any eyes will be on them.
Additionally, the festival’s lineup sees 109 female-made works take stage, making up 43% of the entire festival programme.
Gala's and screen talks
Gala screenings will all take place at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall. Amongst those featured are: Danny Boyle’s portrait of Rupert Murdoch and Larry Lamb’s Sun newspaper transformation, Ink, Cannes favourites Club Kid, La Bola Negra, Paper Tiger, Minotaur, Fjord and Fatherland, as well as Martin McDonagh’s long-awaited Wild Horse Nine.
The Screen Talks project sees the likes of Sofia Coppola, Andrew Scott, Cynthia Erivo, Jesse Eisenberg, John Malkovich, Brad Bird, James Gray, Mahershala Ali, Naomi Ackie and Danny Boyle take the stage.
Kristy Matheson, Artistic Director, BFI Festivals, said: “When this Festival first sprung to life 70 years ago, little more than a decade after the end of the Second World War, British society was in a period of rapid social change. Then, like now, we turn to artists to synthesise our times. And what a vision they have for us in 2026; tumults of the era live inside our programme, but so too do cinematic thrills, moral conundrums and a reoccurring exploration of care and community."
Ben Roberts, Chief Executive, BFI said: “This year, the blockbusters, the indie breakouts and the debuts have drawn audiences to cinemas in record numbers. A reminder that discovering a new film in a room of fellow fans is a thrill like nothing else.”
